Election Night
I voted and my choice at the top of the ticket has been declared first runner-up. Never have I felt so dangerously disconnected from what has become the majority. Well, I will have four years to examine my current state of mind. Maybe it is more environmental than core belief. I wonder if Sarah Palin's family think it was worth the trouble.

I was curious to see what your thoughts were on the election. I am also interested as to what is it like to live in a state that was kind of a toss up for electoral votes. I think candidates come through Houston to raise money at $10,000 per plate dinners, but don't give big campaign speeches and rallies. I voted for McCain too, but wasn't very enthusiastic about it. Obama supporters seemed to be a lot more excited about their candidate. Republicans could have picked a better nominee. On the positive side I do hope the Obama win will lead to an increase overall in black American patriotism that understandably was held back by the history of mistreatment by the U.S. govt. Also as a white male I have to make myself think for awhile about how I would feel if all the presidents in US history had been of a different race and/or gender than myself. My wife and mother in law were leaning towards voting Republican when they pretty much always voted Democrat because of Palin being on the ticket. Oh well it should be an interesting 4 years. If it is like 1992-1994 period we will have a Republican Congress again in 2 years.
